Its the weekend again.... Thankfully!

Thank god its Friday again... I am relieved this week is over. Wouldn't it be great to have a job which you loved so much that weekends were irrelevant!. Its a shame I seem to spend my life at the moment willing it to be either Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday... but not Sunday night!. That's 5.5 days out of 7 I 'will' it to be another!.

I know, I know.. maybe I should go out searching for the perfect place to work... but does it exist??.. At least the incompetent, highly insecure, pedantic 'manager' which has annoyed me this week wouldn't work there!.

Right, moan over... I have been following the 'shabby chic' thread on MSE for ages now... mainly just reading and being inspired by what people can do... and their interior decorating skills!. It has filled me with ideas.. none of which I have done anything about!. I tell a lie - I have actually made a blackboard and painted a magazine holder a nice shade of Farrow and Ball.. So my aim this weekend is to compile a list of what I would like to do around my home.. Then the task begins of ticking off that list!.

My understanding of shabby chic is compiling things that you love in a way that they match, and fit together nicely... I reckon its also about finding things in 'thrift' shops, and 'doing it up' - so it should be a very cost effective way of having a lovely home!. So far Shabby Chic'ing my home is costing me a fortune... I went to BHS about a month ago and bought lots of pretty plates, cups, bowls and Jugs... they are in a cupboard in my kitchen because at the moment I have nowhere to display them!. Not very moneysaving at all!. They are very pretty tho - and very girly too. Thrift shops have never been my thing either... not that I have a problem with them at all.. I just don't have the time to go search in them, and seek out that 'perfect thing', and because I work full time whenever I buy/need anything it tends to be a mission - go straight to shop, purchase, get back home... job done.. So everything I buy tends to be new, and therefore costly..
Maybe I haven't grasped the 'shabby chic' ethic at all... But I do love the way it looks!.

In a desperate attempt to make me feel like its nearly summer (the weather doesn't inspire confidence), I have just ordered my hanging basket plants from Cancer Research - Oh something to tick off my list - and its only 7pm Friday Evening...

Onwards and Upwards....
